Must apply for licensure BEFORE accepting patients.
Health Facilities Division (HFD), under the direction of the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA), determines eligibility of the facility for Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement certification. Contact HFD for further information if you wish you facility to be eligible.

Respiratory Care - No license required if dealing with Oxygen. However, medical gases are prescription drugs. Therefore, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issues safe-handling guidelines to hospitals, nursing homes,and other healthcare facilities. All medical gas manufacturers who receive reports of death or serious injury associated with the use of medical gases are required to report those incidents to the FDA.
