If a company writes insurance on titles, the Division of Insurance regulates it. Title Insurance companies must disclose rates and fees, and are prohibited from paying commissions or any other form of remuneration to "settlement producers" or other interested parties. (10-11-101 et seq., C.R.S.)

The federal Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act prohibits home sellers from requiring home buyers to purchase title insurance from a particular company.
