All wholesalers and retailers of eggs must be licensed by Inspection and Consumer Services
Prior to selling, eggs must be candled (examined by use of transmitted light) and graded into Colorado consumer grades.
Eggs must be refrigerated prior to sale to ensure temperature of eggs does not exceed 41 degrees Fahrenheit.
Annual licenses (July thru June) are required for: Retailer's License ($15-$200). Fee is based upon gross sales of business, exclude gasoline sale. Wholesaler's License ($50-$500). Fee is based upon quantity sold.
Any person who produces and sells, for retail only, less than 250 dozen eggs per month shall be exempt from licensing (i.e. egg farmer who is selling only from their own egg store).
