» plettil - Math working on computer

My wife has MS and loves Math (not calculus, real abstract mathematics). Problem is she has trouble to write with her hand, and I think computer could be an help. Does software discussed in this article fufilled this goal, that is to say, could they help writing mathematic language on a computer, just to print out an exam work or reflexion about a problem.
Thank you very much for your answer.

» toetype - writing math on the computer

I am not sure I understand the kind of math writing your wife wants to do. Are there equations involved or figuring different pieces to understand the whole? I did not get past Algebra II. What do you mean by abstract math?

MathPad and Access to Math are geared more for younger students who need to show their work to the teacher and for more complex problems they cannot figure in their heads. Of course, when they grow up, they will probably just do these kinds of problems with a calculator!

If your wife has good speech, you might check out the voice recognition programs mentioned at the end of the article. They do more advanced notation. http://www.metroplexvoice.com/prod.htm

There are some ways of typing complex math notations, but I cannot name them off the top of my head. I don't understand complex math, so I have difficulty understanding how they work I will search my resources and post my findings here.
