Energy Efficiency & Conservation Block Grants – Formula

Program Description:

flourescent-bulbThe purpose of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grants (EECBG) program is to reduce fossil fuel emissions, decrease overall energy consumption, and improve energy efficiency in the transportation, building, and other energy consuming sectors of the economies of eligible entities. The EECBG program is being funded for the first time under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

The City of Albuquerque has a very aggressive program of Energy Management, annually reserving capital funds targeted for energy conservation projects. With the assistance of the Albuquerque Energy Council, the City’s goal is to improve Albuquerque’s “quality of life” while reducing the use of nonrenewable resources.
