GIPSA's provides extensive training throughout the official inspection system to ensure that uniform, accurate results are provided at all locations. GIPSA also offers customized industry education services to facilitate the marketing of grain in commercial channels. Education topics include the visual grading of any grain, rice, bean, pea, or lentil and objective, non-visual quality tests such as protein, oil, and mycotoxins.
Industry education services are generally hosted by the GIPSA Technical Services Division (TSD), in Kansas City, Missouri. In addition, local industry education services can be obtained through GIPSA field offices, provided adequate equipment and facilities are available.
The
fees for industry education services provided at TSD are established from the non-contract hourly rate in the current schedule of
Service Fees and Billing Codes but are assessed based on the number of students and length of the class.
In addition, TSD is now offering
educational materials to the U.S. grain industry at no charge. Fees for onsite/local training are established from the Grain Grading Seminar hourly rate in the current schedule of
Service Fees and Billing Codes and are assessed based on the number of hours and instructors required. The number of students and type of training requested influences the number of instructors needed. The applicant is responsible for providing any consumable materials (test kits and/or chemicals) required for the training.
