Far Eastern Oklahoma Area Labor Force Briefing Now Available for Download

August 21, 2009 -- A new labor briefing by the Oklahoma Department of Commerce analyzes the labor force in the far Eastern Oklahoma area.

Highlights include:

  • 138,204 workers are currently available for other work; 
  • An estimated 278,501 Job Keepers found a job making $20 or more per hour either "attractive" or "very attractive;" 
  • More than half of all workers (61.8%) indicated a willingness to commute more than 20 miles to their job.

Oklahoma City among Fastest Growing Large Metropolitan Areas for Personal Income Growth in 2008

August 7, 2009 -- The Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) reports Oklahoma City is among the six fastest-growing large metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs) in 2008 for per capita personal income growth, with an annual growth rate of 6.9% between 2007 and 2008.

The BEA defines large MSAs as those with have populations of over 1 million people.

Oklahoma’s Foreclosure Rate Drops

June 15, 2009 - The Tulsa World reports Oklahoma's foreclosure rate in May dropped significantly.

Foreclosure filings were down 25.5% from April and 29% from May 2008, according to a report from real estate data service RealtyTrac.

Oklahoma ranked 39th in foreclosures nationwide for May.

Enid Area Labor Force Briefing Now Available for Download

May 27, 2009 -- A new labor briefing by the Oklahoma Department of Commerce analyzes the labor force in the Enid, Oklahoma area.

Highlights include:

  • 20,507 workers are currently available for other work;
  • Over 70% of working respondents (71.8%) have had at least some college and more than one-third (about 33.5%) of the Enid workforce has a Bachelor’s or post-graduate degree;
  • An estimated 35,912 Job Keepers (out of 42,207) found a job making $20 or more per hour either "attractive" or "very attractive;"
  • Fewer than half of all workers (45.4%) indicated a willingness to commute more than 20 miles to their job.
