Welcome from Secretary Kim Belshé

SECRETARY KIM BELSHÉAs Secretary of the California Health and Human Services Agency (CHHS), I am grateful for the opportunity afforded me by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to serve in this important position. There are few agencies within state government whose programs, services and activities touch the lives of so many California residents so directly and personally as CHHS. Notwithstanding the economic challenges we face as a state, I am confident we can strike a balance between the twin imperatives of maintaining access to essential health and human services for our state's most disadvantaged and at-risk residents while pursuing ways to better manage and control costs over the long term. I will continue providing leadership and oversight of CHHS's efforts to promote the health and well-being of a growing and increasingly diverse California and to work with our many partners in individual and collective efforts on behalf of the people of California. I look forward to refining and expanding these partnerships as we effectively meet the challenges confronting health and human services in our Golden State.
