Event Information: This workshop is for you if you have a brand new business, are thinking about starting a business or have an existing business. The New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department explains gross receipts tax, including how to file, taxable and nontaxable transactions and recordkeeping. The Internal Revenue Service presents recordkeeping, selecting the right type of business entity, expenses, office in the home, depreciation and basic forms. The workshop also includes a brief "Issues for New Businesses" section to introduce you to other state and federal regulations and information resources.

Presenters from four state and federal agencies will help meet your employment responsibilities correctly and efficiently. They will cover a broad range of issues including taxes, filing requirements, recordkeeping, workers compensation, wage and hour laws, liabilities, pitfalls to avoid and the distinctions between employees and independent contractors, essential information for every business that plans to grow.
