Welcome to FTA and Region III. We are proud of the job being done by FTA and our Regional Office. We want to familiarize you with our region, its history, and demographics and inform you of the activities in which we are engaged. The Region serves the Mid-Atlantic area of the country. It includes five states (Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia) and the District of Columbia. Organizationally Region III consists of a Regional Office in Philadelphia, PA, and two Metropolitan Offices; one in Philadelphia, PA and one in Washington, DC. In 2007 Region III provided $998,331,210 in federal funding, which translates to $1,247,914,012 in total project costs, awarding 245 grants. This funding helped 100 grantees with transportation projects throughout the region. The Region manages 693 active projects that have federal funding amounting to $7.7 billion with total project costs that exceed $9.6 billion.
