The mission of the Food Composition and Methods Development Laboratory (FCMDL) is to develop innovative measurement systems for the determination of food components that influence human health.
OUR GOALS
- To design and develop improved analytical methodology for the determination of food components.
- To transfer developed analytical technologies to scientific communities in the United States and worldwide.
- To improve the quality of food composition data and databases.
OUR APPROACH
Areas of research are identified by considering the need for food composition data in the nutrition and health communities as well as the availability of relevant analytical measurement systems. Intra- and extra-mural collaborations are developed and laboratory research is conducted. Technology and data are shared and transferred to users through workshops, scientific meetings, and scientific contracts.
