The Office of Administrative Courts (OAC) is Colorado's centralized administrative court system.  Most States and the federal government have established similar specialized legal processes within the executive branch.  This structure enables both agencies and citizens to have certain disputes resolved while avoiding the time and expense of litigation in district court. In 1976, the General Assembly created Division of Administrative Hearings as a central panel of administrative law judges ("ALJs") to decide workers' compensation, human services, licensing, and a variety of other cases.

What's New at OAC. .  . .  . . . .

  • New Pueblo Location For Workers’ Compensation Hearings

Effective October 2, 2008, OAC will change the location for workers’ compensation hearings in Pueblo.  We have obtained use of a courtroom in the Colorado Mental Health Institute at Pueblo.  The location is at 1600 W. 24th Street, Building 125, (the Administration Building).  A large parking lot is available south of 24th Street for use by all hearing participants.  Handicapped parking spaces are available close to the building for those with proper permits.

The CMHIP web site provides driving directions:  http://www.cdhs.state.co.us/cmhip/directions.htm

All parties, attorneys, and witnesses will need to check in with the Communications Desk just inside the front doors to Building 125 shortly before the start times for the hearings.  The ALJ or CMHIP personnel will direct participants to the courtroom.  The courtroom has an FTR recorder and multiple microphones.

Please check your hearing notices for hearings on and after October 2, 2008, to make sure that the location is the new CMHIP location.  Please contact the Southern Regional Office for OAC at (719) 576-2958 if there are any discrepancies.

Section 7 of SB-258, P. 258, L. 1 & P. 259, L. 27, provides: "The request shall be a prerequisite to review under Section 8-43-201." OAC believes that the reference to subsection 201 is a typographical error and that the General Assembly intended to reference subsection 301.
