COLORADO RECOVERY OVERSIGHT BOARD MEETING TO FOCUS ON HEALTH CARE & RESEARCH
The Colorado Economic Recovery Accountability Board will hold its monthly meeting, which is focused on health care and research, this Thursday, Aug. 20, at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora.
At 2 p.m. on Aug. 20, the oversight board will meet at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. That meeting will be held in the Research 2 building on East 19th Avenue in the second floor conference room. Gov. Bill Ritter appointed the 14 volunteer members of the board in February to provide oversight over the billions of dollars coming to Colorado through the Recovery Act. The board is led by state Chief Operating Officer Don Elliman. The meeting is open to the public.

Directions to board meeting: take I-225 to the Colfax Exit, west on Colfax, right on Fitzsimons Parkway, left on E. 17th Place, right on Victor Street, left on E. 19th Avenue, park in the Georgetown or Ignacio visitor lots (there will be a small charge for parking). There will be golf carts to transport you down E. 19th Avenue to the Research 2 building. [Map Available]
At 11 a.m. on Aug. 20, the oversight board and governor's staff will visit North Aurora Family Health Services, 3292 Peoria Street, Aurora. The clinic is a designated federally qualified health center and is receiving $630,717 from the Recovery Act for a variety of projects, including the purchase of information technology equipment to create electronic medical records, dental and medical equipment and solar panels to increase energy efficiency on the campus. The contractor hired to install the solar panels will be on site for interviews.
The health clinic has 86 employees and served more than 54,000 patients in 2008, 73 percent of whom are at or below the poverty level. So far this year, the clinic has seen almost twice as many patients compared to the same point in 2008. MCPN is the primary health care provider for the indigent population in Aurora. The clinic received ARRA funds directly from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
