Q. What is GIS Program/Bernalillo County Public Works?
A. The GIS Program is a section of the Infrastructure Planning & Geo-Resources Department within the Bernalillo County Public Works Division. The GIS Program supports Bernalillo County government with a myriad of services. These include database designs, standards development, data capture and coding, support and training services, custom application development, and GIS Web services.

Q.Do you sell custom maps?
A. No.

Q. Do you sell digital data?
A. No.

Q. What GIS data is available?
A.Selected GIS layers are free to download here. GIS Program/Bernalillo County Public Works will not pre-process or edit the data. You will need your own software to view the data. In addition, the GIS Program has a series of live map services that allow direct interaction with our GIS data.

Q. How do I get a Bernalillo County Zone Atlas/Address Atlas/History Atlas?
A. The hard copy and CD versions of the atlases can be purchased from the Zoning Section/Bernalillo County Zoning, Building, and Planning Department. Digital atlases and individual atlas maps can be downloaded here.

Q.What projection or coordinate system or does the GIS Program use?
A. The standard projection for data sets that are maintained by the GIS Program is North American Datum 1983 (NAD83), HARN, StatePlane, New Mexico Central, FIPS 3002, Units US Feet. This standard was set by AGIS/City of Albuquerque Planning Department. Since the GIS Program receives data sets from other entities, some of the data sets posted are in other projections.

Q. Do I need Bernalillo County permission to reuse data downloaded from this site?
A. Most of the download data is public information. You can obtain a release from the Budget and Finance Division.

Q. How accurate are the data and maps downloaded from this site?
A.Data obtained from this site is for reference only and are not official documents. All critical information should be independently verified. 

Q. The Bernalillo County Internet Map Server (Interactive Map Link) is not working. What's wrong?
A.We cannot guarantee availability of the Bernalillo County's Internet map services. Applications, servers, and network connections may be unavailable at any time for maintenance or unscheduled outages. Outages may be of long duration. Please do not create dependencies on these services for critical needs. Try again in a few hours or the following day. 

Q. What type of Internet connection do I need?
A. The map server requires a high-speed connection. If you have a 56K or slower connection, maps could take several minutes to load.
The site is best viewed with Netscape 4.51 and higher or Internet Explorer 5.0 and higher.

*Some of the applications use a Pop-up window to display information. Turn off any Pop-up Blocking software or change the Pop-up Blocker setting to make http://ims.bernco.gov an allowed site.
