Applying for Executive Level Vacancies
How to Apply
A complete application consists of the following:
- A current resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV): This should include your name, mailing address, day and evening phone numbers, social security number, date and place of birth, education/training, and work experiences (e.g., job titles, salary, grade and series, and accomplishments).
- Professional/Technical Qualifications (PTQs)
- Executive Core Qualifications (ECQ's): ECQ's are the same for all SES positions within the Federal Government. Current members of the SES (or graduates of U.S. Office of Personnel Management Candidate Development Programs) do NOT have to address the ECQ's in their applications; however, the professional /technical factors must be addressed.
Please note: Failure to submit a complete application package which consists of the above items will result in your application not being considered.

Do's and Don'ts
DO submit only the information requested in the Vacancy Announcement:
- Resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Professional/Technical Qualifications (PTQ's)
- Executive Core Qualifications (ECQ's)
Failure to address the Executive Core and/or Professional/Technical Qualifications will result in your application not being considered.
DO include the following information in your application :
- Vacancy announcement number
- Previous work experience (job titles, salary, grade and series (if applicable), duties and accomplishments, organization, dates employed)
- Personal information (e.g., full name, home address, home and work telephone numbers, e-mail address, Social Security Number, and date/place of birth)
- Job related education, training, and awards
DO have your application materials postmarked or sent via email by the closing date stated in the announcement.
DON'T attach superfluous documentation (e.g., performance plans/ratings, position descriptions, letters of commendation and/or recommendation, training; award or other certificates, books, reports, etc.).
DON'T submit out-of-date and/or illegible copies of any documents.
DON'T use Government postage-paid envelopes to mail your application.
DON'T submit or mail application materials after the closing date of the announcement.
