Set for Defense Industry

(WASHINGTON) -- The U.S. Department of Commerce and the Small Business Administration are co-sponsoring the last in a six-part series of defense conversion conferences designed to assist small and medium-sized companies improve businesses opportunities by using technologies available from the federal laboratory system. This conference is scheduled for Wednesday, December 11, at the College of Charleston in Charleston, SC.

Because technology developed for military purposes also has a wide range of uses in the commercial sector, businesses need additional information about available products and potential markets for those products. The conference has been designed to assist South Carolina firms in their marketing, export control, and product diversification strategies. There will be seminars on technologies ready for licensing, creative financing techniques, the patent and trademark process, and targeting markets to take advantage of emerging technology breakthroughs.

The cost for conference participants is $75 in advance, or $95 at the door. The conference runs from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Anyone interested in attending or exhibiting may call 703/760-0762 to register.

Note:

In April of 2002 the Bureau of Export Administration (BXA) changed its name to the Bureau of Industry and Security(BIS). For historical purposes we have not changed the references to BXA in the legacy documents found in the Archived Press and Public Information.
