WASHINGTON -- Najarian Furniture Company, Inc., a City of Industry, California furniture manufacturer, has agreed to pay a $4,000 civil penalty for four alleged violations of the antiboycott provisions of the Export Administration Act and Regulations, Assistant Secretary for Export Enforcement F. Amanda DeBusk, announced today.
The Department alleged that on four occasions between 1993 and 1995 Najarian furnished information concerning another person's business relationship with or in Israel, in violation of the Regulations. While neither admitting nor denying the allegations, Najarian agreed to pay the civil penalty.
The antiboycott provisions prohibit U.S. companies from complying with certain aspects of unsanctioned foreign boycotts against any country which is friendly to the United States and which is not, itself, the object of any form of boycott pursuant to United States law or regulation.
In April of 2002 the Bureau of Export Administration (BXA) changed its name to the Bureau of Industry and Security(BIS). For historical purposes we have not changed the references to BXA in the legacy documents found in the Archived Press and Public Information.
