Confirmed Cases of H1N1 Novel Influenza Infection in Minnesota (5/10/09 11:00 AM)

Mild cases of H1N1 novel influenza virus continue to appear in Minnesota      May 8, 2009
To date, the Minnesota Department of Health has identified 16 probable and two confirmed cases of the H1N1 novel influenza in Minnesota. All of the cases so far have been mild. More severe cases will likely appear as MDH focuses its testing on hospitalized cases.

Influenza in Swine      May 7, 2009
While forms of influenza are present in pigs in Minnesota, the exact type that has been making people sick, H1N1 virus, has not been found in pigs any where in the world. This H1N1 hybrid virus has never been identified in swine.

Capitol Complex Security      May 13, 2009
The Office of Legislative Auditor evaluation concluded that Minnesota has not taken sufficient steps to protect the Capitol and surrounding state buildings from possible security threats. The report makes several recommendations, including a stronger law enforcement presence in the Capitol Complex and an ongoing committee to help set security priorities.

Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritchie announces the availability of the 2009-2010 Minnesota Legislative Manual edition online. This biennially published book, commonly referred to as the "Blue Book," is available to view and download.
