This MODIS image from June 9, 2002, shows the vibrant forests of the Coast Mountains of southwest British Columbia, Canada. The snow appears almost to have been painted on, and as the snow recedes to the higher elevations, green valleys can be seen. At the border of Canada and Washington, a grayish cluster of pixels on the shore shows the location of Vancouver.
