Reserve Officer Program
You can help keep our community safe! The purpose of the Reserve
Corps is to assist the Police Department in the performance of its
duties where and when needed. This is a volunteer position that
enables you to contribute your expertise and time to help keep your
community safe, secure and crime free.
Requirements:
- United States citizen
- 21 years of age by completion of Academy
- No felony convictions
- No DWI or misdemeanor violations within the last three years
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- 270 hours of classroom instruction
- 180 hours of on-the-job training
You provide:
- One shift on patrol per month
- Your professional expertise
- 4 hours in-service training per month
- A desire to help your community

All applicants must successfully pass each phase of the
following process to qualify for the Police Academy:
- Initial Application Interest Card
- Written tests (police entrance exam/reading and comprehension)
- Physical Abilities Test (based on age and gender)
- Preliminary Interview Questionnaire
- Personal History Statement
- Behavioral/Personal Assessment Device (B-PAD)
- Personal History Statement Interview
- Background Investigation
- Chief's Selection
- Polygraph Examination
- Psychological Interview
- Medical Examination
