Clouds of tan dust linger over the Mediterranean Sea off of Libya. A strong dust storm swept thick curtains of Saharan dust out over the Sea and into Italy. By February 23, 2004, when the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the Terra satellite captured this image, only traces of the storm remained. The wind still appears to be blowing a little dust into the Sea, most obviously in eastern Libya, image right.
