What is a Warden Message?

Warden Messages are important messages about safety or travel information for U.S. citizens abroad. Warden Messages are issued from the Department of State and are communicated to overseas citizens through Embassies and Consulates. Warden messages may be issued worldwide, regionally, or just in one specific country.

What is a Warden?

Wardens are private U.S. citizens in The Gambia that help the Embassy communicate warden messages quickly when needed, usually by contacting other Americans in their area or organization. Contact the Consular Office if you are interested in volunteering your services as a Warden. We greatly appreciate the support from our Wardens, and it is a very important role to play!

Who receives Warden Messages?

The Consular Office and our Wardens attempt to contact all registered U.S. citizens when Warden Messages are issued. If you would like to receive these messages, register your stay in The Gambia by visiting the US Embassy with your passport, or by going online.  Click here to register Online.  Warden Messages affecting The Gambia are also posted on this website.
