NIAID conducts and supports biomedical research to understand, treat, and prevent infectious and immune-mediated diseases, including research to combat diseases of worldwide concern, such as HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, neglected tropical diseases, emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases.
