Description
Word and Boggus Construction has requested permission to dredge a large channel across TVA-managed land for boat access to a 23- to 25-acre inland lake they plan to construct. The lake would be located on a 326-acre tract of private land proposed as a planned community and would consist of residential waterfront and interior lots, a restaurant, and a dry boat storage facility. The applicant’s original request has been modified to reduce environmental impacts to existing wetlands and a stream.

The location is Big Spring Creek on Guntersville Reservoir.

The TVA land is currently zoned for residential access, and the proposed channel excavation would provide water access for the waterfront residential property owners in the planned community and provide deeper water for existing residential property owners in adjacent subdivisions.

TVA is interested in receiving comments on the potential of the proposed action to affect the environment or historic properties, and in identifying any other issues associated with this proposal. These comments will be used in reaching a decision concerning the proposed action.

A draft Environmental Assessment (EA) has been prepared on the potential environmental impacts of the proposed action. It is available for review at the Guntersville Watershed Team Office, the Guntersville Library, and on this Web site (click here for link).
