Summer outdoor movie series returns to King County's Marymoor Park
2007 Archived News
King County's First Tech Movies @ Marymoor Park returns for a third
full summer of laughs, tears and fresh popcorn. The popular family
event kicks off July 18 with the hilarious "School of Rock," starring
Jack Black, and wraps up Aug. 22 with the animated kids' classic,
"Monster House."
The series, presented through a partnership between King County Parks,
First Tech Credit Union and Epic Events, runs every Wednesday evening
at McNair Field in Marymoor Park.
Open seating begins at 7 p.m., and all movies begin at dusk. Admission
is free, but a donation of $5 for individuals and $15 for families is
suggested. Proceeds go to support King County Parks.
"The outdoor movie series has become an instant classic that's a big
hit for families," said King County Parks Director Kevin Brown.
The series starts July 18 with "School of Rock," featuring Black's
hyperactive antics as a middle school teacher's lessons on the art of
rocking out. Bundle up under the stars with a loved one to watch the
quintessential date movie, "The Princess Bride," July 25, or take a
blast to the past with the 1985 box office smash "Back to the Future,"
Aug. 8.
Three Marymoor movies this summer received Oscar nominations in 2006:
Will Smith's "Pursuit of Happyness," Meryl Streep's "The Devil Wears
Prada," and the animated children's movie, "Monster House."
First Tech Credit Union is also bringing back the popular First Tech
Movie Bingo to this year's series. Bingo cards containing movie words
and phrases will be distributed at movie screenings and attendees will
have the opportunity to win fun prizes.
This is also a dog-friendly event, so feel free to bring you pooch to
the movies. Seating is on grass, so low-back lawn chairs or blankets
are recommended. Popcorn and soda are available for purchase. Kettle
corn, all beef hot dogs, treats and SUBWAY sandwiches are all available
from Marymoor Park concessionaires.
