International Year of Astronomy 2009 Image
In celebration of The International Year of Astronomy 2009 (IYA2009), The Museum of Flight will feature public programs and new exhibits each month about notable people and topics on the subject of astronomy.
Aces of the 56th Fighter Group of WWII Image

The Museum is the home of the American Fighter Aces Association and holds their collections and archives. This special temporary exhibit draws from items currently not on display and features photos and other materials from Maj. James C. Stewart that he collected during World WarII.

Flight Simulators Image

Experience flight without leaving the ground in the Museum's flight simulators! Try your hand at WWII dogfights, hang gliders, or even landing on the Moon!

Challenger Learning Center Image
The Challenger Learning Center creates a realistic experience in which students take control of a space mission.
Flight Zone Programs Image
Pitch, yaw, and roll through fun, active, and hands-on activities. Three different hands-on aviation learning programs geared for children from pre-K to 6th grade.
Aviation Learning Center Image
The Aviation Learning Center brings to life the energy and excitement of aviation through a hands-on learning environment.

Upcoming Events

In Dec. 2008, pilots Carol Ann Garratt and Carol Foy flew a small, single engine airplane around the world in a record time of eight and a half days. Garratt will speak about her journeys and what inspired them in this special evening presentation. Admission to the program is $10 general admission and $5 for Museum members.

Artist Paul Calle was hired by NASA to document the space program during the 1960s and was the only artist allowed to observe and sketch preflight preparations for Apollo 11. In conjunction with an exhibit of 20 original sketches and paintings of Apollo 11, the artist and his son Chris Calle will talk about NASA art and the Apollo missions.

Once a month, the Museum stays open late-for free! Enjoy the Museum's Great Gallery, Personal Courage Wing, Space: Exploring the New Frontier exhibit, flight simulators and more from 5 - 9 p.m. courtesy of Wells Fargo. Museum Store and Wings Café will also remain open for the extended hours on this night. 
Barring delays during its overland trip from New York state, the Lockheed "Connie" arrives this week after its restoration back east. The classic airliner will arrive partially disassembled via truck convoy, and its fuselage will be on view in the Museum parking lot during Labor Day weekend.
