Seniors Issues: Social Security and Medicare

Medicare

Medicare is a promise we make to our seniors. In Washington, I’ll make sure our lawmakers keep that promise. One of my first priorities in Congress was to fight cuts to the Medicare system. I helped defeat legislation that would have resulted in millions of seniors losing their Medicare Advantage coverage, slashed benefits for low income seniors and cut services for Medicare Part A and Part B by over $180 billion. My job as your representative is to strengthen the current Medicare system, not pull the legs out from under it.

I also support reforms that will make Medicare dollars go farther and do more. By pursuing tort reform and limiting frivolous lawsuits, the federal government can drive down the cost of healthcare and increase the quality and availability of medical services for all Americans. I will continue to work with Members of Congress to reform a legal system that chooses to support the interests of trial lawyers over those of doctors and their patients.

Social Security

Seniors have worked all their lives to build communities, raise their families and make our nation strong. They deserve to receive the retirement benefits they worked so hard to earn. In Congress, I will continue to make sure the federal government keeps its commitments to our seniors.
