Bill creates commission to investigate financial crisis
Washington, D.C. - Congressman John Barrow (GA-12) voted today to drastically strengthen the enforcement and prosecution of mortgage and corporate fraud. Barrow encourages eligible veterans to apply online
Washington, D.C. - Veterans eligible for education benefits under the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008, also known as the "New GI Bill," are able to apply for benefits through the Department of Veterans Affairs online beginning today, Friday, May 1. Members of the military who have served on active duty since September 11, 2001, including activated reservists and members of the National Guard, receive up to four academic years of education benefits, including stipends for housing and books. Veterans will have up to 15 years after they leave active duty to use their education benefits. | |

On February 13, the House and the Senate passed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which was signed into law by President Obama on February 17th. The bill is estimated to create or save 3.5 million jobs throughout the country, including 106,000 jobs in Georgia and 7,700 jobs in the 12th District. Congressman Barrow has put together a guidebook detailing potential funding opportunities for local officials, community leaders, non-profit organizations, first responders, school districts, small businesses, and individuals from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for 12th District.
