David Trotter of Marysville was named to the 13-member Lamb Board by the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture. The board is comprised of feeders, producers and handlers and develops markets for lamb products.

Seven Floyd County high school seniors have been named semifinalists for National Merit Scholarships. Nearly 16,000 semifinalists have been named. Winners will be annouced next summer.

Hill Pleased with Boost to Cash for Clunkers Program: Voted for the original bill and additional funds

(Washington, DC) - The Car Allowance Rebate System (CARS) Program, or “Cash for Clunkers” should soon be receiving a financial boost.  The Senate passed a bill yesterday to provide the program with an additional $2 billion because of its quick success.  The House passed its version of the legislation on July 31, 2009, by an overwhelmingly bipartisan vote of 316-109.  Congressman Baron Hill supported the initial proposal and the additional funds.  In response to the Senate’s action, Hill issued the following statement: ... view more
