AnnouncementsSamuel F. Posner, PhD, selected as Editor in ChiefAnnouncement posted 06/15/09 Samuel F. Posner, PhD, has joined the Preventing Chronic Disease (PCD) staff as the next editor in chief. Dr Posner brings 7 years of experience reviewing and evaluating peer review publications for scientific merit and policy implications for the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). He has published more than 80 articles on a variety of chronic disease and health promotion topics including mammography screening and follow-up, reproductive health, women’s health, alcohol and tobacco use, health disparities, and patient-provider processes of care. Before taking this role, Dr Posner was NCCDPHP’s acting associate director for science. He has also served as the associate director for science and senior scientific advisor for CDC’s Division of Reproductive Health (DRH). He joined CDC in February 1998 as a research scientist in DRH. Dr Posner received his PhD in quantitative psychology from the University of Southern California in 1996. Dr Posner and the entire PCD staff extend their thanks to Drs Marta Gwinn and Susan Chu for their invaluable service as interim editors in chief. Since the departure of the journal’s visionary force and founding editor Dr Lynne Wilcox, they kept PCD moving forward and are to be congratulated on a job well done.
