Annual Item Selection Update Cycle Begins June 1, 2007 - InstructionsAn opportunity to add item numbers to depository library selection profiles will take place in June and July 2007. From June 1 through July 31, 2007, depositories may make additions, which will take effect on October 1, 2007. GPO recommends that libraries review their current selections in terms of their communities' government information needs and change their selections accordingly.
GPO strongly encourages libraries to select electronic information products whenever they are available, when they adhere to the library's collection plan for Federal government information.
The Update Cycle period is the only time that items may be added. Items maybe dropped at any time. Adds will not take effect until October 1, 2007.
Selecting Titles from the FDLP Basic Collection and Essential Titles Lists
(http://www.access.gpo.gov/su_docs/fdlp/coll-dev/basic-01.html) GPO has received questions from depository libraries about selecting item numbers representing titles in the Basic Collection and the Essential Titles lists. Please consider the following information to assist with your selection decisions. Depository libraries may choose to select any or all of the items in these two collections. These titles are primary U.S. Government resources which may be of interest to many depository library communities. (Selection of the U.S. Congressional Serial Set and the bound Congressional Record, included in the Essential Titles list, is limited to regional depository libraries and one designated library in each state without a regional.) All depositories are expected to have the titles in the Basic Collection accessible to their patrons, following the directions at http://www.access.gpo.gov/su_docs/fdlp/coll-dev/basic-01_about.html whether these items are selected or not.
INSTRUCTIONS:Making Amendments to Selections On this Web site, you will control the input, and the changes will be sent to GPO immediately, upon submission, for processing by GPO. You will need your depository library number and internal password to submit your additions or deletions. NOTE: If you mistakenly delete an item number or select an item number that you really wanted to delete, you must contact GPO. Do not try to re-input the correct selection by entering another transaction on the Web Amendment to Item Selections form. Suggestions for Changing Formats
For example, to change the Federal Register selection from paper to microfiche, add item 0573-D in December or January, for implementation in April. Then use the Web Amendment to Item Selections form to delete item 0573-C after you begin receiving microfiche copies.
