PROJECT STATUS REPORT as of 27-Aug-2008
Four Mile Canal Terracing and Sediment Trapping
PROJECT LOCATION:
The project is located four miles south of Intracoastal City in Vermilion Parish, LA.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
This project will construct and plant 50,000 feet of terraces with smooth cordgrass (Spartina alterniflora) to create 214 acres of wetlands and protect an additional 113 acres in Vermilion Bay.
PROJECT STATUS: (Project Status Last Updated: 11-Jun-2007 )
An O&M inspection field trip was conducted in March 2007. The project is showing some signs of erosion along the 4-Mile canal side on the ends of the terraces. However, at this time an O&M event does not appear to be warranted.
FUND STATUS:
The current project estimate is $2,040,063 , which includes $1,939,796 for construction first costs, and $75,188 and $25,079 for 20 years of monitoring and operations and maintenance, respectively.
