  1. Question

Did the Sun and our Solar System form in the first half or last half of our galaxy's history?

The age of the solar system is 4.56 billion years. The age of our Milky Way Galaxy has not been measured directly but is about 12 billion years judging from its oldest stars. Thus the solar system was formed a bit more than half way through the age of the Galaxy. This provided plenty of time for multiple generations of massive stars to manufacture the heavy elements that are essential for both planets and life.
