Goods and Services Deficit Increases in June 2009

The Nation’s international deficit in goods and services increased to $27.0 billion in June from $26.0 billion (revised) in May, as imports increased more than exports. (12 August 2009)

2008 Annual Revisions

In this release and the accompanying "U.S. International Trade in Goods and Services: April 2009," the U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) are jointly publishing revised data on U.S. trade in goods for 2001-2008 and the first three months of 2009 and revised data on services for 2006-2008 and the first three months of 2009. Aircraft Industry Trade Data Changes

The U.S. Census Bureau revised goods export data from January 2004 through December 2008 as a result of analysis of the aircraft industry. In addition, the Census Bureau began suppressing export data for certain 10-digit Schedule B commodity classifications related to the aircraft industry with the release of the January 2009 merchandise trade report on March 13, 2009.     The U.S. Census Bureau, U.S. Department of Commerce, announced today that in 2008 related-party trade accounted for almost 40 percent ($1,349 billion) of total goods trade.

    2009 Foreign Trade Data Product Changes
