Overview
The more children understand about their oral health, the more likely they will be to adopt habits to help them keep those teeth long after they've graduated high school. Below are resources to help teach the importance of good oral health. Also, direct your students to the "Student" section.

Annual National Groundhog Job Shadow Event!
Beginning February 2, 2006 and continuing throughout the remainder of the school year, this national event is an opportunity for students to spend part of a day in a professional environment and observe first-hand how the skills learned in school relate to tasks performed in the workplace. For a student interested in the sciences, this is an excellent opportunity to expose students to dental careers, specifically, dentistry, dental assisting, dental hygiene and dental laboratory technology careers.
A comprehensive guide, " How To Have a Successful Groundhog Job Shadow Day ," details how educators and employers can promote and implement the program as well as ideas for students. The " How To…" guide can be downloaded from www.jobshadow.org and is available in quantity by calling the Job Shadow Day Coalition at 800-373-3174. A listing of the School to Careers, Junior Achievement and America's Promise representatives for your state is available at http://www.jobshadow.org/get_started/contacts.html . These organizations work with interested employers and local school systems. Last year, over one million young people and 100,000 businesses (including dental offices) participated!
