The National Terrorism Preparedness Institute (NTPI) of St. Petersburg Junior College (SPJC) presents "CoMNET" The Consequence Management News, Equipment, and Training Magazine. CoMNET is a recurring satellite broadcast program offering Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) related awareness information to the Nation's civilian and military emergency response communities. CoMNET is a news magazine style program consisting of multiple segments, similar to the National Alert programs aired on the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Emergency Education Network (EENET), but includes a "live" call-in discussion at the end of the program. CoMNET is the product of an interagency program effort bringing together the Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of Justice Programs (OJP) / Office for Domestic Preparedness Support (ODP), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Director of Military Support (DOMS) Consequence Management Program Integration Office (CoMPIO), and the Combating Terrorism Technology Support Office (CTTSO) Technical Support Working Group (TSWG). CoMNET is a product of the Advanced Technology Integration Demonstration (ATID) team, consisting of the Strategic Assessment Center of Science Applications International Corporation and the National Terrorism Preparedness Institute. Target Audience: The target audience for this program includes both the civilian and military emergency response communities at all levels of government, to include law enforcement, fire officials, emergency response teams, and local, state, and federal preparedness personnel. The CoMNET Magazine broadcasts are also be useful in keeping local, state, and federal administrators informed of WMD resources and operational considerations that may impact their communities. Program Objectives: While the hybrid form of CoMNET allows for program diversity, the proposed format for the August 30, 2000 CoMNET broadcast will include: 1. WMD related news stories collected from around the country presented in a news magazine reporting format 2. Feature stories on WMD response equipment designed to introduce or familiarize the community with "reputable" equipment items 3. Feature stories on WMD training events recently conducted in communities throughout the country (i.e., Consequence Management 2000, etc.) 4. Feature stories on WMD training resources/facilities that are available to the response community 5. A live call-in interview/discussion session with reputable members of the emergency response community Broadcast Viewing: The first CoMNET broadcast will take place on August 30, 2000 from 2:00 P.M. - 3:30 P.M., EST, and will be carried over the following satellite networks: The Federal Emergency Management Agency's Emergency Education Network (EENET) The Environmental Protection Agency's Air Pollution Distance Learning Network (APDLN) The Department of Energy's Digital Video Teleconferencing Network (DVT) The National Guard's Guard Net XXI The Air Force's Air Technology Network (ATN) The Army's Satellite Education Network (SEN) The Government Education Training Network (GETN) The Law Enforcement Training Network (LETN) The Federal Emergency Training Network (FETN) The Federal Bureau of Investigation's FBI Training Network (FBITN) The Air National Guard "Warrior Network" The Military Teletraining Network (TNET) The Police Officers' Standards Training Network (POST) In addition to the above satellite networks, any location with a satellite dish may register to carry the CoMNET broadcast; following registration, satellite coordinates for the broadcasts will be provided to the requesting party.
