Regional Emergency Preparedness Page Updated with Swine Flu Info

The NN/LM PNR Emergency Preparedness page was updated today - it now includes the Health and Human Services/CDC  Swine Flu widget so that you can easily link to updates and information about the Swine Flu outbreak.  The epidemic has already hit the West Coast in Canada and in California so we here in the Pacific Northwest need to be attentive!

There are some simple things you can do to protect yourself:

  1. Avoid close contact with people who are sick.  When you are sick, keep your distance to protect others.
  2. Stay at home when you are sick.
  3. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing - then throw it away.
  4. Wash your hands often to prevent the spread of germs.
  5. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
  6. Practice other good health habits - get plenty of sleep, stay physically active, eat nutritious meals and drink plenty of fluids.

(Tips from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)

Other updates to the NN/LM PNR Emergency Preparedness web site include more focus on Service Continuity planning, including a link to a template for the 10 Steps to Service Continuity.  There is also a link to the recording of the February 18th RML Rendezvous session on Emergency Preparedness presented by Dan Wilson, the NN/LM Emergency Preparedness Project Manager.
