INTRODUCTION

Shortly after South Africa's historic elections in 1994, the Republic of South Africa (RSA) set a course towards reconstruction and development. The commonality between the goals set by the government and the following sustainable development objectives of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) facilitates partnership in many areas:


USAID/SOUTH AFRICA’S SIX DEVELOPMENT OBJECTIVES

USAID/South Africa, in consultation with our customers and partners, including South African government and non-governmental entities and U.S. public and private stakeholders, has the following six development objectives.

Democracy Consolidation Advanced
Increased Access to Quality Education and Training
Increased Use of HIV/AIDS and Other Primary Health Care Services
Improved Capacity to Formulate, Evaluate and Implement Economic Policies
Increased Market-Driven Employment Opportunities
Increased Access to Shelter and Einvironmentally Sound Municipal Services
