• Census of Civil Rights Organizations
In these times of limited resources and expanding challenges, the Department of Civil Rights has decided to conduct a census of civil rights concerned organizations in Michigan. Hopefully by having a better assessment of the many organizations working toward inclusion, diversity and equal opportunity in Michigan, we can enhance our ability to collaborate on common causes.

• MDCR Youth Advisory Council Announcement
The Michigan Department of Civil Rights (MDCR) is announcing the creation of a Youth Advisory Council to the Michigan Civil Rights Commission. This is a pilot program and the first and only one of its kind in the nation. We expect to open this program to the entire state based on the success of the pilot program.

• Civil Rights Commission To Host Meeting and Public Forum in Hamtramck
The Michigan Civil Rights Commission has scheduled a formal meeting and public forum for Monday, April 27, 2009, beginning at 3:00 PM. The meeting will take place at the People's Community Services H. Irving Mayson Hamtramck Neighborhood Center, located at 8625 Joseph Campau Avenue, Hamtramck, MI 48212.

The Michigan Crime Victim Services Commission (CVSC) has again partnered with the Michigan Department of Civil Rights (MDCR) and the Michigan Alliance Against Hate Crime (MIAAHC) to offer workshops on cultural competence and hate crime to those who provide services to victims of crime.
