QUESTION: How do I know whether I am complying with the employment provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act?

Information about complying with employer obligations under the Americans with Disabilities Act can be obtained from the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission or by calling 800-669-4000 (voice) or 800-669-6820 (TTY). Information can also be obtained from the federally sponsored Disability and Business Technical Assistance Center in your area. To locate the center closest to you, call 800-949-4232.

For small businesses, the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Small Business Administration have published the "ADA Guide for Small Businesses," which can be found online at www.sba.gov/ada/smbusgd.html or www.usdoj.gov/crt/ada/publicat.htm.

Employers should also determine obligations they may have under state law.
