National Institute of Food and Agriculture

The Food, Conservation, and Energy Act of 2008 (the Farm Bill) calls for CSREES to become the National Institute of Food and Agriculture by October 1, 2009.  All current authorities administered by CSREES will be transferred to the new institute, which will be led by a presidentially-appointed director.

CSREES issued a Federal Register notice on January 5, 2009, that ran through February 6, 2009, to solicit external comments. The agency appreciates all the comments that were submitted. They can be found on regulations.gov.
