OVERVIEW

warn_icon.gif IMPORTANT MESSAGE 06-13-2009: From TSDIS/PPS Help Desk - As most of you are probably aware, TRMM experienced a PR instrument anomaly on May 29, 2009 which affected all TRMM PR data resulting in missing data since orbit# 65716.

If you have obtained any of the following TRMM PR products and associated products (browse, CSI, etc) since that time, either through your Standing Orders, Special Requests or through other means, please delete the following products if you have not already:

1A21, 1B21, 1C21, 2A21, 2A23, 2A25, 2B31, 3B31, 3A25, 3A26

NOTE: The latent heating products of TRMM 2A12 and 3A12 over ocean surfaces should be regarded as experimental. Please confer first with the algorithm developers (by contacting the GES DISC) when using the latent heating product over ocean.Over-land latent heating estimates from TRMM products 2A12 and 3A12 should not be used, as they have not been evaluated quantitatively or qualitatively.

Welcome to the Precipitation Data and Information Services Center (PDISC). Here are some links to help you get started:

Search for Precipitation Data

mirador_thumb.jpg TRMM data can be located using our new fast and efficient search interface Mirador or by using the navigational online ftp method WHOM.

Explore Precipitation Data with Giovanni

Giovanni IconGiovanni TOVAS, a member of the Giovanni (GES-DISC DAAC On-line Visualization and Analysis System) family, provides users with an easy-to-use, Web-based interface for the visualization and analysis of Earth Science data without having to download the data first.

PDISC Guide for New Users

For users new to the PDISC, we offer a getting started guide.

Precipitation Data Services at the DISC

  • Facilitate data access, information processing to support precipitation research and decision making
  • Nurture cross disciplinary precipitation related research, such as energy and water cycle, aerosol-precipitation interactions

The data holdings at the PDISC consist of remote sensing, in-situ and forecast (to be added in the future) precipitation and ancillary data. The PDISC also provides access to near-real-time and historical precipitation data. The TRMM Online Visualization and Analysis System TOVAS provides a fast and easy way to access the most popular products. While you're here, check out:
