AGREEMENT ESTABLISHING AN ALLIANCE BETWEEN THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH ADMINISTRATION ENGLEWOOD AND DENVER AREA OFFICES AND THE COLORADO CONTRACTORS ASSOCIATION
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Colorado Contractors Association (CCA) recognize the value of establishing a collaborative relationship to foster safer and more healthful Colorado workplaces. OSHA and the CCA hereby form an Alliance to provide Colorado employers and employees, with information, guidance, and access to training resources. Through the Alliance, the organizations will work to improve health and safety in the workplace, especially in helping construction contractors to reduce injuries and illnesses related to work performed on highway workzones. OSHA and CCA will work together to achieve the following training and education goals: CCA will organize, and OSHA will participate in, periodic Area Safety Meetings, throughout Colorado, to address issues related to heavy highway, municipal and utility construction safety (including highway workzone safety). OSHA will participate in CCA Regional Roundtables for the purpose of sharing highway workzone safety compliance information and best practices with the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), CCA and heavy highway, municipal and utility construction contractors. OSHA and CCA will work together to achieve the following outreach and communication goals: Develop and disseminate information through existing print and electronic media, including links from OSHA’s and CCA’s Web sites and via e-Newsletters, to share compliance information, communicate best practices and support and promote heavy highway, municipal and utility construction safety. Develop strategies to inform local jurisdictions and private developers, engaged in heavy highway, municipal and utility construction work on safety requirements and best practices. Explore opportunities for communicating with the traveling public about highway workzone safety issues. OSHA’s Alliances provide parties an opportunity to participate in a voluntary cooperative relationship with OSHA for purposes such as training and education, outreach and communication and promoting a national dialogue on workplace safety and health. These Alliances have proved to be valuable tools for both OSHA and its Alliance participants. By entering into an Alliance with a party, OSHA is not endorsing any of that party’s products or services; nor does the Agency enter into an Alliance with the purpose of promoting a particular party’s products or services. An implementation team made up of representatives of both organizations will meet to develop a plan of action, determine working procedures, and identify the roles and responsibilities of the participants. In addition, they will meet at least three times per year to track and share information on activities and results in achieving the goals of the Alliance. This agreement will remain in effect for two years. Either signatory may terminate it for any reason at any time, provided they give 30 days written notice.
