After the Stem Cell Therapeutic and Research Act of 2005, Public Law 109-129, was authorized, HRSA requested proposals from potential contractors to bid on the four components of the C.W. Bill Young Cell Transplantation Program and the National Cord Blood Inventory.
- The National Marrow Donor Program® (NMDP) was awarded contracts for three components:
- Office of Patient Advocacy/Single Point of Access
- Bone Marrow Coordinating Center
- Cord Blood Coordinating Center
- The Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research® (CIBMTR) at the Medical College of Wisconsin was awarded the contract for the Stem Cell Therapeutic Outcomes Database component.
- Several cord blood banks were awarded contracts for the National Cord Blood Inventory.
