The Institute's Special Education Teacher Quality Research program holds two
competitions: (1) Special Education Teacher Quality
– Reading and Writing and (2) Special Education Teacher Quality –
Mathematics and Science. The general purpose of the Special Education Teacher
Quality research program is to identify effective strategies for preparing future
teachers of students with disabilities or improving the performance of current
teachers of students with disabilities in ways that increase student learning
and school achievement.
