Instructions for Obtaining a Login to CM/ECF.

CM/ECF: System Requirements

Attorneys will need the following hardware and software to electronically file, view and retrieve documents in the electronic filing system:

  • Minimum browser requirements to support 128 bit encryption:
    • IE 6.0 (Recommended)
    • Mozilla Firefox 1.5 or greater
    • Mozilla 1.7 or greater
    • Safari 1.2 (for MAC users)
  • Not Recommended:
    • IE 5.5 or lower
  • A computer capable of running one of the above browsers, such as one using Windows 9x, NT, 2000, XP, Vista, Macintosh, Linux or Solaris operating system. ;
  • Adobe Acrobat 3.0 or higher to convert documents from a word processor format to portable document format (PDF);
  • A PDF-compatible word processor like Macintosh or Windows-based version of WordPerfect or Word;
  • Broadband Internet access through any Internet service provider using Point to Point Protocol (PPP);
  • Access to a scanner if paper documents need to be imaged and sent to the court.

The above specifications are subject to change.

Training on the CM/ECF system will be provided for attorneys and their staff members. Please complete the Training Registration Form and return it to the address indicated. Upon receipt of your form, you will be added to the training waiting list and will be contacted by the court for scheduling.

CM/ECF Computer Based Training Modules are available but are not a substitute for the training required to obtain a login to the system. See Obtaining a Login to CM/ECF for details regarding obtaining training or for obtaining a login if one already has a login to any other Federal court.
