What is CM/ECF?
CM/ECF is a replacement for the former case management system, (ICMS / PACER), within the federal courts that allows courts the ability to use and upload electronic documents to docket sheets.

Why CM/ECF?

  • Allows immediate noticing;
  • Provides better reports, calendaring.

What does CM offer?

CM not only offers the capabilities of previous Administrative Office developed case management systems, but expands on them by providing:
  • User friendly screens for data entry
  • Easier case information retrieval and reporting
  • Multiple access so users can process documents at the same time
  • Reports generated from a single integrated system: (e.g., CJRA Reports, Magistrate Judge's Workload Reports (MJSTAR),
    Docket Activity Reports).
What are Electronic Case Files (ECF)?

Electronic case files are collections of documents stored in electronic format instead of in paper. Documents can be created electronically by parties and court staff or paper copies can be scanned. All documents are stored in Portable Document Format (PDF).
