r2p: Research To Practice at NIOSH

Scientist with optical wire, Worker wearing respirator and chemical protective clothing, Worker sampling soil, and Welder with cutting torch

The Research to Practice (r2p) initiative at NIOSH is focused on the transfer and translation of knowledge, interventions, and technologies into highly effective prevention practices and products which are adopted into the workplace. r2p is a way of conducting research to help ensure that it is relevant to our stakeholders and results in the reduction of workplaces injuries, illness, and fatalities.

The goal of r2p is to reduce illness and injury by increasing the use of NIOSH-generated knowledge, interventions, and technologies. In order to achieve this, NIOSH continues to work with our partners to focus research on ways to develop effective products, translate research findings into practice, target dissemination efforts, and evaluate and demonstrate the effectiveness of these efforts in improving worker health and safety. NIOSH research is used by workers, employers, and others throughout the world.
