Dark Matter Scientific Assessment Group (DMSAG)
In March 2006 the NSF-NASA-DOE Astronomy and Astrophysics
Advisory Committee (AAAC) and the NSF-DOE High Energy Physics Advisory Panel
established a Dark Matter Scientific Assessment Group (DMSAG) as a joint panel to advise NSF and DOE on matters concerning the U.S. dark-matter
research program. The DMSAG will provide advice on priorities and strategies for the direct detection and study of the dark matter that
dominates the mass of the universe. The agencies' request to form the DMSAG was made within the context of the report of the interagency
working group, entitled "Physics of the Universe: A Strategic Plan for Federal Research at the Intersection of Physics and Astronomy,"
produced under the auspices of the Office of Science and Technology Policy.
