BOUTWELL Crew Gives Shoutouts with the Commandant -- Give One Back

While onboard BOUTWELL this week in Djibouti, crewmembers had the rare opportunity to say "Hi" to their loved ones back home while they circumnavigate the globe supporting the 5th, 6th and 7th fleets. Here is one example:

You can see more here (check back over the next couple days, we have more to upload).

Let's try a social media experiment and show your support to the crew of BOUTWELL by sending them your thanks and best wishes. You can do it three ways:

-- Comment to this post
-- Leave a post on their fanpage
-- Comment on individual videos in the photobucket

We will be sure they get all the messages, but we are sure they will be checking.

Also, a special thanks to the unit Ombudsman, Cindy Stewart:

might want to fix the typo on the first line. boutwell is circumnavigating, not circumventing the globe...:)

I would like to send a message of thanks and support to the crew of the Boutwell from a "member" of the Navy Blogosphere.

I have had the distinct honor of serving alongside members of the USCG in Philadelphia, Honolulu, Washington DC, Chicago, and Alexandria, LA (in the challenging weeks following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita).

The professionalism and dedication of the members of the USCG was inspiring (particularly on the Gulf Coast). Their own homes destroyed in the disaster and their family members displaced, those USCG personnel were still standing the watch. Fourteen hour days 7 days a week was the norm as these professionals worked to help restore order across three states, thousands of miles of coastline, and hundreds of towns and cities.

For an organization that is smaller than the NYC police department, the USCG has an awe inspiring global impact. I thank the members of the USCG for their service, and I wish safe but interesting times for the crew of the Boutwell. Keep up the great work.

V/R,

B. Walthrop

BOUTWELL shipmates- Although I'm certain it's hard work, I hope you're enjoying a once-in-a-career deployment. Enjoy it all and take pictures!

Aloha, BOUTWELL! I hope all is going well (and air conditioned, I hope!) with you! Keep doing a great job on your patrol. Oh, and keep an eye on your airdales. I'm sure they like to tell you they're working hard, but, from my direct experience in having worked with them, I'm willing to bet they've got the wool pulled over your eyes.

Be safe, and keep up the good work!

My old college boyfriend, a cadet who graduated in 1972, had a summer cruise on the Boutwell. You are doing good work under, I imagine, some "technical challenges" with a ship of her age. Bravo Zulu!

Boutwell: Thank you for your Honor, Respect, and Devotion to Duty.

Your service brings those core values to life and remind those of working "from home" what they really mean.

Bravo Zulu!
